Arkansas Wedding Cakes: Mini Mail-Order Mason Jar Cakes by Bananappeal

We usually only like to show you stuff that’s locally made or sold so you can support Arkansas wedding businesses, but there’s something to be said about a great presentation.

That why, when Miss Bananappeal herself, Courtney Dougherty, contacted us with an opportunity to sample and show off her mini-cakes, we couldn’t say anything but “Yes, please!” It was her adorable corporate stationery and logo that made us super-curious. Plus Courtney’s business card is shaped like a banana, for goodness sake!

Bananappeal is her Denver, Colo.-based company which bakes ready-to-eat frosted banana cakes and cheesecakes in reusable vintage-inspired Mason jars. All cakes are meant to be enjoyed right from the jar! They’re perfect for weddings, showers and parties because you can order custom lids to match your theme.

We had to try them to see if they were something you’d love.

Check out the pictures of the flavors (and there are even more than what we pictured) and the custom Mason jar lids.

Associate editor Amanda Hoelzeman’s favorite was Salted Caramel Cake, and my tied-for-favorites were Banana Cheesecake Ginger Snap and Banana Toasted Coconut Cake. Runnerups: all the other flavors, some of which are gluten-free.

If you want to learn more, visit Bananappeal.com. You can buy them via Williams Sonoma online (in March), and other online retailers for $29.95-$39.95 for four mini-cake sets. The difference in price is based on ounces. Custom orders are obviously going to cost you more.

Just something to consider for rustic Southern weddings.
