Arkansas Engagement: Romona Cash of Hot Springs & Kyle Hicks of Hot Springs Village

Maumelle residents Romona Cash of Hot Springs and Kyle Hicks of Hot Springs Village are engaged to be married June 15, 2013 at Loft 1023 in Little Rock. Now that you’ve seen their cute engagement photos, read how Kyle popped the question:

On Sept. 8, Kyle and I started out on a Saturday morning bicycle ride. We’ve been riding every Saturday so this was a typical day for me. We rode a route we’ve only done once and I was really dreading the hill up to the Pinnacle Mountain Visitor Center. I’m not a huge fan of hills, but at the top there is a gorgeous view. This day was perfect — cool temperatures, abundant sunshine and being able to spend the day with my favorite person. Little did I know it was going to get ever better.

Once we got to the top of the hill I was worn out. We stopped in and got some cold water. He then asked me if I wanted to go up to the overlook. This was something we did the last time we were there so I still didn’t realize that he was going to propose. We rode to the top and enjoyed the scenery for a little bit. He then pulled out his water bottle and said, “You know, I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” I said, “Yes, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” I still at this moment wasn’t thinking he was proposing. He opened the water bottle and I noticed there wasn’t any water in the bottle. He shook it to and out popped a baggie with the ring. I immediately started crying! He asked me to marry him and I said yes!

After we enjoyed the moment for a little bit we got back on the bikes and started back down the hill. We got past the Visitor Center and I noticed that my Jeep was sitting in the parking lot. He pulled up to it and told me to put my bike on the rack and that he had another surprise for me. Oh man, I wanted to know right then!

He drove us down to Maumelle Park where I noticed my mom’s car and Kyle’s parents’ car. We got a little closer and I saw a sign that said “Kyle and Ramona – Just Engaged.” My family ran out of the pavilion. I rolled down the window and screamed ‘Oh my goodness!’ I got out of the Jeep and ran toward them and bawled my eyes out. They were cooking breakfast and were ready to celebrate with us. We spent the rest of the morning visiting with friends and family and enjoying some good food.

It really was the perfect day!
