Look out, world! Little Rock local Michelle Drilling and Newport native Jake Eddington are about to take on the future together. The duo will say “I do” on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the St. Paul United Methodist Church, followed by a reception at Wildwood Park for the Arts in Little Rock.
The couple’s engagement shoot from Sarah Bentham Photography has just the perfect amount of autumn flair, and their proposal story has the perfect amount of scheming sweethearts. Check it out!
When it came time to propose, Jake knew he wanted to do so at Hendrix College—where he and Michelle first met, became friends and fell in love. To create a ruse to get them there, Jake told Michelle his family was having a Fourth of July family photoshoot in his hometown, and on their way there, they had to stop in Conway to run an errand for Jake’s grandparents. The made-up errand was out of the way, and Jake’s feigned annoyance was enough for Michelle to believe the story without question.
Once in Conway, it was easy to convince Michelle to stop by Hendrix. As they began walking across campus towards the fountain, Jake began to reminisce about when they first met, and before Michelle realized what was happening, he was down on one knee. After saying yes, some friends popped out from nearby, and everyone celebrated with a champagne toast. Jake’s story was so good, Michelle didn’t realize the family photoshoot was just a ploy so their clothes would match in their proposal photos, and she still thought they had to get back on the road so they wouldn’t be late for the photoshoot!
