Catering Idea: Sample a Fuzzy Navel Crush Signature Cocktail

Part of what’s cool about my job as editor of Arkansas Bride is getting to sample and review things and share them with you. Planning books and bridal products are usually what we get, but last month we were excited (after a particularly busy month of finishing our Spring/Summer 2012 issue) to receive a large bottle of Vincent Van Gogh’s Cool Peach Vodka

We just had to try it — for research of course — and more importantly, to try their suggested signature cocktail recipe: a Fuzzy Navel Crush (pictured; recipe below).

So, after work one night, the Arkansas Bride ladies got together for a little happy hour of Fuzzy Navel Crush cocktail … wondering what wedding they might fit best with and what other ways to mix this delicious peach vodka. Here’s what the ladies had to say…

  • My daily emotional support and associate editor Amanda Hoelzeman: “It was really refreshing and very Southern. I think it would be perfect for an outdoor Southern spring/summer wedding … it could even be served punch-style in Mason jars with a peach wedge.”
  • Our list master and my daily sounding board Alex Graham: “I don’t drink fruity drinks, but it was strong!”
  • Our blogger extraordinaire and marketing guru Rachael Rickels: “I immediately noticed the hint of mint, which was really refreshing. It really tasted like a peach, too, which reminded me of the rustic, farm weddings we’ve seen a lot of this year. It’d be a perfect signature cocktail for a summer farm wedding.”
  • And “editor” a.k.a. crazed workaholic me: The orange juice in the recipe is a little heavy in the recipe they provided. The peach vodka, with its subtle hint of mint, stands alone and just needs something lighter and bubblier … maybe mix it with Diet Sprite, Cherry 7Up or the like. I think it’d be perfect at a summer reception, a reception that has an orange color scheme, and at a bridal shower or bridesmaids’ luncheon to brighten the mood.

Here’s the signature cocktail recipe:

Fuzzy Navel Crush

  • 2 oz Van Gogh Cool Peach Vodka
  • 1 oz triple sec
  • Splash Orange juice
  • Splash soda water

Serve in pint glass filled with crushed ice.

Thanks to Vincent Van Gogh vodka. It was a fun taste test!
