Six Bridal Shower Themes You’ll Love

Hosting a bridal shower for one of your favorite people? Forget traditional cake and presents and opt for one of these fabulously creative ideas instead.

  1. Cooking-themed shower: For the bride who loves to cook, this is a perfect shower idea. Guests bring kitchen- or cooking-related gifts to help the bride stock her kitchen. Send out recipe cards as RSVPs, and guests can send them back with their favorite recipes for the bride. Another option: Hire a chef to teach a cooking class at the shower, or see if a local kitchen store will let you host it there.
  2. Holiday shower: Assign each guest a holiday and have her bring an appropriate gift. The bride will receive gifts she can treasure for a lifetime like holiday ornaments, serving dishes for Thanksgiving, champagne flutes for New Year’s Eve, etc.
  3. Linens shower: Have each guest bring a luxury bed or bath gift like fine cotton sheets, down pillows, throws, finely-milled soaps, bath oils, monogrammed bath robes and pillowcases, or soft towels.
  4. Wine & spirits shower: A “stock the bar” shower is an appealing co-ed option. Guests gift the couple with wine and/or liquor to help stock their wine rack or cellar and liquor cabinet.
  5. Tea party shower: We love this sweet, sophisticated shower idea. Brew pots of different teas and serve with an assortment of dainty biscuits, cookies and sandwiches. Our favorite is cucumber! Find vintage tea cups and saucers at local thrift stores, or ask your guests to bring their favorites. For place cards, remove the tags from tea bags and replace with handwritten name tags. Put a personalized tea bag in an empty cup at each guest’s place.
  6. Spa shower: This is one of our favorites, perfect for a small shower or bridal party. Take a day trip to a fabulous spa and indulge in facials, massages and pedicures. Or, have a local masseuse or aesthetician come to you and give everyone mini-massages and facials. Invitations can be attached to small bottles of scented lotion or containers of bath salts.
