MEAGHAN SHEEHY & ROBERT LEE HUDGINS III

February 4, 2024 | Crystal Ridge Distillery | Hot Springs | Boston Mountain Photo

Meaghan and Robert met through friends while enrolled at Louisiana State University, and instantly hit it off. The next semester, Meaghan moved to New Orleans to attend nursing school, but their relationship remained strong.

“We were each other’s rock, and I think we both knew the whole time that we would always be together,” Meaghan said.

Robert proposed to Meaghan at one of their favorite date-night spots, City Park in New Orleans. They designed the ring together and were able to add extra personal touches such as diamonds from her grandmother’s ring. Not only did Robert surprise Meaghan with a proposal, but he also planned a surprise party with all of their friends and family at home.

Q & A

Q: What was your favorite moment of the day

A: “Our favorite moment was our first look,” Meaghan said. “We read each other our vows in private, and I was very excited to finally show my best friend my dress after a year of hiding it.”

Q: What did you love about your venue?

A: “Robert and I went on our first vacation together in Hot Springs back in 2019,” Meaghan said. “We were looking for things to do in the area and found Anthony Chapel. We fell in love with the chapel and never thought we would be able to get married there someday. When we got engaged we thought ‘why not?’ And we were able to make our dream a reality.”

Q: What personalizations did you plan for the wedding day?

A: “I personalized my veil by sewing a small clay ladybug on one of the flowers,” Meaghan said. “I did this to honor my godmother who passed when I was in third grade. Ladybugs have always held a lot of significance for my mom and I, and we even have matching ladybug tattoos!”

Q:  What family heirlooms did you incorporate into your wedding?

A: “On my right hand I wore my late grandmother’s opal ring that she had given me before she passed,” Meaghan said. “It was perfect because Opal is also Robert’s birthstone.”

Q: Was there a special detail from your decor that sticks out to you the most?

A: “I loved the hanging floral centerpiece over the dance floor,” Meaghan said. “It was more beautiful than I ever imagined, and it felt magical dancing under it the whole night.”

MOST WORTH-IT SPLURGE

“Our live wedding painter was worth every penny,” Meaghan said. “Stephanie painted the most amazing portrait of Robert and me posed in front of the chapel.”
