Entering their fall semester of college, the leaves weren’t the only things falling, Jenny England of Maumelle and Doug Knight of Heber Springs were falling for each other. Two and a half years later, the couple was canoeing on Greers Ferry Lake, when Doug shared some poetry he had come across and asked Jenny to marry him. To celebrate, the couple shot off fireworks that Doug conveniently packed.

How They Customized
Jenny and Doug had an underlying bicycle-for-two-theme, in which they incorporated a bicycle on the invitations and on the guestbook. They also had a bicycle at the wedding, which the couple decided to ride during the ceremony, and used in their wedding portraits.

Ways They Saved
The couple saved a lot of money by having both the ceremony and reception on family property.  “There is a big field outside of Doug’s grandparents’ house that we used for the whole event, “ Jenny said, and  “most of the decorations were just collected from the adjoining woods and returned afterwards. Ultimately, we had a lot of help from family and friends; they truly made our wedding special and homegrown. “

Bride’s Inspiration
“In one word, our inspiration was ‘fall.’ We chose the date based on the autumnal equinox (Sept. 22/23) and wanted the décor to reflect fall, the season in which we fell in love. The colors were ivory, rust, taupe, gold and sage green, which the bridesmaids sported in their dresses. We wanted the décor to also reflect our love of nature and outdoor adventures. “

What detail truly the wedding yours?
“Definitely all the people who showed up to celebrate with us made the wedding truly ours. To think that everyone—family and friends (old and new)—were there to support our life together was truly incredible. “
