Leah Littleton & Taylor Milligan
November 23, 2019
Legacy Acres, Conway

Growing up in small Arkansas towns, Leah Littleton and Taylor Milligan knew each other from afar but it wasn’t until the two both moved to Conway that their love story began. Leah was waiting tables through college and Taylor happened to be seated in her section. The two would see each other around town but sparks didn’t fly until they both attended a Shania Twain concert. After 12 years of friendship, the two fell in love.

When it came time to propose, Taylor wanted it to be a surprise. Leah’s brother and sister-in-law came to Conway for the weekend and her parents planned a fun day for everyone to be together. The plan was to go out on the lake and eat dinner together at a restaurant that overlooks the lake. Taylor planned to meet everyone at the restaurant, but there was a minor glitch. The restaurant was closed and everyone headed home. Instead of a lakeside proposal, Taylor asked her to marry him in their kitchen — the same spot he first said “I love you.”

“I was so excited I didn't even give him the opportunity to put the ring on my finger,” shes says. “I took the ring out of the box and was just in awe. The proposal was so simple, sweet, and perfect. I would relive that day over and over if I could.”

THE INSPIRATION

COLOR STORY

Working as the marketing and events director at Legacy Acres, Leah has seen quite a few weddings and knew she wanted her big day to take place there. The design was inspired by a warm color palette and lots of organic, soft florals. The flower theme was also carried through in other design elements including the napkins, wedding stationery, bridesmaid dresses, place cards, menus, programs, rugs, and koozies.

When it came to finding the dress, Leah made an appointment at Inverness Bridal Couture in Conway. Leah’s mom suggested an off-the-shoulder gown. Once Leah put it on, it was a winner. Leah had the dress custom made for her body so it didn’t lose any of the floral design or beading. She also opted for removable off-the-shoulder sleeves for dancing. “When the custom dress arrived at the store, I did a dress reveal with all others who were not able to be there on the day we found the dress,” she says. “Everyone loved the dress just as much as I did!”

HOW THEY CUSTOMIZED

For the reception set-up, Leah wanted to reimagine the space at Legacy Acres and create something that hadn’t been done before. When guests first walked in, they saw the beautiful light blue wedding cake underneath hanging greenery installation and Edison bulbs. There was another greenery installation hanging over the dance floor and all the tables were filled with a mix of tall and low arrangements.

By the dance floor and bar area, the couple did the first-ever lounge seating area on the stage that has since become a popular trend at Legacy Acres. “I loved the bar, dance floor, and lounge seating being all in the same area,” she says. “Against the walls we had booth seating and tall long runner tables with stools at them. I loved the element of having different seating.”

In lieu of a groom’s cake, the couple opted for a pie and pickle bar that was a huge hit among guests. Taylor’s mom decorated the bar with his homerun baseballs, his homerun bat and pictures of the couple. The pies were placed on clear acrylic stands and the pies and pickles were labeled with cards that matched the place cards in a clear acrylic holder.

At the end of the night, the couple exited in style. Since Leah works at Legacy, she frequently uses the golf cart to zip over to the different buildings for appointments and events. Her planner, Jessika McCuin had the idea to decorate the golf cart and have that be their getaway car. “I loved that idea and we went for it!”
