Layla Qedan and Taylor Simmons, both of Bryant, are engaged to be married May 23, 2015 at BoBrook Farms in Roland, Ark.

We met through mutual friends six-and-a-half years ago in Fayetteville and became friends first before we started dating. It didn't take long for us to realize we didn't meet by chance and that there was just something special. We were young-- I was 17 and he was 19-- so we spent a good deal of time getting to really know one another. Of course, life happens and throws curves, so there I was on a Wednesday afternoon 6-and-a-half years later coming home from class at UAMS and I open our apartment front door, and there is Taylor down on a knee with a sign that says 'Keep calm and say I DO!' He even had his iPad set up to record the whole thing. I instantly said 'Yes' and we both just couldn't stop smiling and I could not stay calm!
