A mutual love of service brought love to the lives of Hot Springs’ native Priscilla Gibbs and Keith Harvey of Little Rock. The two met while volunteering at the Arkansas Rice Depot. Soon after, the couple went on their first date at the quaint Little Rock eatery, The Root Café. “We pretty inseparable after that,” Priscilla says. For their third date, she talked him into going on a hot air balloon ride with her—something on her bucket list. And on a trip to Italy in October 2012, Keith surprised her with a hot-air balloon ride over the Tuscan countryside and an inflight marriage proposal. “Greatest day ever!” she says.

BRIDE'S INSPIRATION

The 1920s, Art Deco feel of Hot Springs set the theme for the wedding. “It’s what Hot Springs reminds us of with the old bathhouses, Al Capone’s history [there] and the architecture of downtown,” she says. “I tried to play upon the feeling that downtown Hot Springs evokes."

HOW THEY CUSTOMIZED

The reception was held in the historic Arlington Hotel Crystal Ballroom and exuded elegance punctuated by soft flowers, candles, luxurious tablecloths and gorgeous gold chivari chairs. “I spent a lot of time with my wedding planner and florist working to make the ballroom really romantic and elegant, and was very happy with the result,” Priscilla says. To highlight their memorable engagement, the couple served a variety of cupcakes topped with old-timey snapshots of 20s-era hot air balloons. For added vintage flair, the cupcakes sat atop and around antique suitcases. Priscilla’s Gatsby-inspired dress by Lazaro was a beautiful part of the wedding and to make it even more special, Priscilla’s friend Lakey from Memento Mori Salon designed a cuff and matching headpiece from extra fabric from the dress.

SIGNIFICANT OTHERS

Family and friends played an integral role in the ceremony, with Priscilla’s boss Judge Mixon performing the ceremony and the couple’s friend Stacy performing the song “Hallelujah” while the mothers and grandmothers were seated. “It was beautiful and perfect in that glass chapel,” Priscilla says. And to top it all off, Keith’s nephew walked down the aisle with a “Here Comes the Bride” sign.
