Rachael Reid

To take a break from our Meet the Photographers series, we're going to talk with another amazing beauty stylist. Rachael Reid of Salon Karizma is a veteran in the beauty business. She's been doing wedding hair for over a decade, and she's a national hair educator.

From the consultation to the post-wedding unwinding, Rachael gives us the inside look into her life as a stylist.

What did you do before?

I've always done hair, but alongside doing hair, I went to the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts and have taught modeling and acting. I have a passion for all aspects of the beauty industry.

How would you describe your beauty style?

My beauty style is always evolving. I like to focus on what's modern yet chic.

What are details you especially pay attention to with a client?

I enjoy listening to my guests' needs and making them feel confident by enhancing their natural beauty.

What do you love about being a stylist?

I love the ability to be creative while making and sharing memories. Each strand has a story.

What's your favorite part of preparing someone for a wedding?

My favorite part of preparation starts at the consultation. I love seeing the dress, talking accessories, exploring how she wants her hair to flow with her dress. Hearing all the details and making her vision come to life.

What price points can brides expect?

Price points vary with each bridal party. The bride needs to preplan her day with a consultation to decide if she wants both hair and makeup, lashes, hair extensions and any other services. She can also include her entire bridal party for hair and/or makeup. Don't forget your groomsmen  they can also need a little grooming as well! Ask about bridal packages.

When you're not working, what do you like to do with your spare time?

I love to be with my family, friends, dogs, going to the lake, volunteering and continuing my education.

What's your favorite way to unwind after a busy wedding session?

Relax and decompress by looking back at the memorable moments of getting each guest ready. I love looking back and remembering how beautiful the bride felt after her first look or how the flower girl felt like a little princess and couldn't wait to walk down the aisle and be the best flower girl. It's moments like this that make it worth it and help me unwind.
