Maggie Griffith & David Guarno
December 12, 2015
Clinton Presidential Center, Little Rock

Most people don’t expect to marry their first high school boyfriend, but that’s exactly what Bryant native Maggie Griffith did. She met David Guarno from Rochester, New York, when he moved into her town. The teenage sparks flew, and even when they broke up, they remained close friends. In time, the two moved back to central Arkansas, reconnected and began the rest of their lives.

A New Year’s Eve spur-of-the-moment trip to New York City served as the backdrop for Maggie and David’s proposal story. But instead of choosing a packed and noisy Times Square, he decided to pop the question on New Year’s Day as they set out for a fun night to see the city.

The Inspiration

These days, many couples opt for quick ceremonies and blowout receptions. Maggie and David, however, dreamed of a small, intimate event that felt like an actual wedding, not a party. They planned a morning ceremony and simple champagne brunch dressed with classic elegance and shades of gold and ivory.

How They Customized

With the plan of keeping things intimate, the couple hosted a welcome dinner for friends and family the night before the wedding, as well as another get-together after the reception where they enjoyed additional time with loved ones from out of town.

At the reception, the fabulous breakfast spread took the spotlight, including a waffle bar and the crowd favorite: bacon. They had a proper British tea as a nod to Maggie’s heritage, and they swapped out a traditional groom’s cake for an Oreo tower and milk shooters.
