Monica Cayce & Brett Goode

Twenty-five days. That’s all the time Arkansas Bride Monica Cayce had to plan a wedding. Then again, when you’ve been on “The Amazing Race” and you’re marrying an NFL player, you know a thing or two about hustle.

Green Bay Packers long snapper Brett Goode was introduced to Monica by mutual friends and immediately made a connection. Many late night phone conversations and a cross-country road trip later (Monica drove from Arkansas to surprise Brett at training camp in Wisconsin!), Brett proposed to Monica privately with a fabulous rose gold diamond ring, and the rest was history.

She jumped into wedding mode head first when they decided to get married less than a month away during the Packers’ by-week. Monica quickly fell in love with a blush ombre Monique Lhuillier gown with the perfect Swarovski crystal belt. The couple chose to tie the knot at the Abbey Springs Yacht Club on Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, about two and a half hours away from Green Bay.

The Inspiration

Monica and Brett opted for an event swathed in enchanting romance, hence the to-die-for drapes of amaranth. Looking to her engagement ring for inspiration, rose golds, soft blushes and shades of sage adorned the space. They also added modern touches with acrylic chairs, but made sure to pay homage to their Arkansas origins (Monica from Fayetteville, Brett from Fort Smith) with fun Southern accents like champagne toasts in mason jars and antlers in the floral arrangements.

The Details

Because of the size of the wedding, the couple included personalized touches for all 48 guests. From the hand-painted chalkboard at the escort table to the calligraphed name cards made by Brett’s mother, the whole occasion was cozy, elegant and intimate. Guests even enjoyed a sunset cruise on a private yacht complete with plenty of Moscow Mules while the wedding venue was transformed into a reception space.

When it came to his groomsmen, including Green Bay’s QB Aaron Rogers, Brett had two requests: some denim and some good ol’ U.S. of A. The guys wore black denim bow ties and American flag cuff links, much to Brett’s delight. His strategy for the rest of the wedding planning? “Just say yes.”
